My Great-Great-Grandfather Had Never Heard the Word “Networking”

Body

-the reason behind the creation of the “Whisper of Roots” article category-

My great-great-grandfather was a farmer. Not a modern farmer with tractors and weather apps. But a farmer who walked to the rice fields, who read the seasons by the direction of the wind, and who planted with prayer and harvested with gratitude.

He passed away long before I was born. All I have are the stories from my mother: that my great-grandfather was never rich, but his funeral was attended by people from seven villages.

“Why?” I asked.

“Because whenever someone was in need, he was there. He didn’t say much. He’d just show up, help out, and then go home.”

That’s what true networking is — before the term was coined and turned into a training module. Not business cards. Not LinkedIn. But being there.

At Soul, stories like this helped me understand my roots. Where I come from. What values flow through my veins, even if I don’t always realize it.

At True ALLY, the wisdom of our ancestors teaches that true alliances are built on presence, not transactions. Shared values. A mission that goes beyond profit.

And at FRONTIER Spirit, I learned that stepping into the global world doesn’t mean leaving your roots behind. Quite the opposite: the farther you go, the more important it is to know where you come from. Because that’s where your compass lies.

Whispers of Roots isn’t a museum. It’s a conversation. A whisper from the past that’s still relevant—if we’re willing to be still and listen.
